Description

The Atrium Gallery has a new exhibit. Our reception will be Jan. 14th from 1pm to 3pm.

The art of two of our area’s visual artists is currently on display at the ATRIUM Gallery in Dania Beach City Hall through February 6, 2018.

Watercolorist and painter Henriette “Kitte” Arnold, began her art career in earnest in 1982 after having a successful career in theatrical costume and fashion design. Her work involves a range of subjects and includes flowers and landscapes, still life, Celtic design, Florida wildlife and Chinese brush painting. An artist in Dania Beach, Kitte’s paintings and work can also be found in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and Canada as well as China, France, Germany and Italy. A winner and Best in Show designation at many art exhibits and shows throughout her career, Kitte feels her “art has become a source of life as it feeds my intellect”. Additionally, Kitte has an active studio in Canterbury Square in downtown Dania, where she has taught watercolor and painting for over 18 years to countless numbers of students who are also making their living as artists through the local area and the United States.

Charlene Alvarez is a self-taught artist whose creations have a deep profound message motivated by her many personal experiences and interpretations of the world and society. Working mainly with acrylics and oil paint on canvas, paper and wood, Charlene is a talented expressionistic and abstract colorist, with images that focus on her Lakota Sioux Native heritage. She believes, as her ancestors, that “life is an interpretation of the medicine wheel that symbolizes

great spiritual significance.” Her art and her creations are an outlet to express her deep passions for life and love of others.

Charlene has very strong beliefs towards building a better future for children and their environment which inspires each of her paintings. In addition to creating visual art, Charlene is Chair of “Go Green Kids Worldwide Inc.” a not for profit organization which teaches kids to respect and utilize art, nature and imagination in free workshops. Both Charlene and Kitte are committed to education and art exposure to young people and students and are active members of the Dania Beach Creative Art Council.
