Redevelopment

In 1969 the State of Florida Legislature gave authorization to create the Redevelopment Act which became Chapter 163 Part III of the Florida Statutes. The legislative intent of the act was to allow Community Redevelopment Agencies to be created by a City or County to assist in the elimination of slum/and or blighting conditions. There are currently more than 200 CRAs registered with the Florida Department of Economic Opportunity.

The City of Dania Beach created its CRA in 2002. Dania Beach is the oldest city in Broward County and the area of the original town is in the CRA.Our challenge is to work on introducing new developments and upgrades to aging infrastructure and old structures as well as the elimination of blighted areas, and neighborhoods.
